Let's be real: the internet was always a cesspool, but now it's a cesspool overflowing with… well, you know. And the question isn't just "is this obviously fake?", it's "is anything real anymore?" I mean, give me a break. We're drowning in a sea of deepfakes and AI-generated garbage.
Every day, it seems, there's a new "AI" tool promising to revolutionize… something. Writing, art, music – you name it, there's an algorithm trying to replace a human being. And yeah, some of it is impressive on a surface level. But impressive and real are two very different things. It's like comparing a plastic Christmas tree to the real deal. One might look perfect, but it's devoid of any actual life.
The real kicker? These tools are often presented as empowering, as giving us more "choice." But is it really choice when everything is just a variation on an algorithm? Are we choosing, or are we just picking which filter to apply to the same pre-programmed reality?
And don't even get me started on the ethical implications. Who owns the copyright to an image generated by AI? Is it the person who typed in the prompt? Is it the company that created the AI? Or is it the artists whose work was used to train the AI in the first place? It's a legal and moral clusterfuck waiting to happen.
The internet was supposed to connect us, to expose us to new ideas and perspectives. But instead, it's become a series of echo chambers, where we're constantly bombarded with information that confirms our existing biases. And now, with AI amplifying that effect, it's only going to get worse.
Think about it: algorithms are designed to give you what you want, or what they think you want. They track your every click, your every like, your every search, and then they use that information to create a personalized feed of content. Which sounds great in theory, but in practice, it just reinforces your existing worldview. You're never challenged, you're never exposed to dissenting opinions, and you slowly become convinced that you're right about everything.

It's like living in a funhouse mirror version of reality.
But wait, are we really supposed to believe that these tech companies have our best interests at heart? They expect us to believe this nonsense, and honestly... Are they trying to make the world a better place, or are they just trying to sell us more ads?
So, where does this leave us? Honestly, I don't know. But I'm not optimistic. I think we're heading towards a future where it's impossible to tell what's real and what's fake. A future where truth is just another commodity to be bought and sold.
And maybe that's already happening. Maybe we're already living in a world where nothing is real, and we're just too dumb to realize it. Then again, maybe I'm the crazy one here. Maybe I'm just a cynical old bastard who's afraid of change.
Offcourse, there is a chance that I am wrong. A small chance.
